Instructional Guide #10: Electric Motorcycle Conversion Build Checklist — Every Part Before You Start

  1. Rolling chassis — a donor frame or roller with straight forks, a solid swingarm, and true wheels.
  2. Drive system — motor (hub or mid-drive), a matched controller, and throttle; keep voltage the same across all three.
  3. Battery pack + BMS — sized for your range, and the BMS discharge rating must cover the controller's max draw.
  4. Charger — matched to your pack's voltage and chemistry; never charge a pack unattended.
  5. 12V electrics — DC-DC converter, contactor, key switch, lights, horn, and switches; the pack does not run lights directly.
  6. Final hardware — motor mounts, chain/belt and sprockets, a main fuse or breaker, gauges, and proper torque on every axle nut.
