Cold, wet winter riding will seize up a dry seat post and stiffen up folding hinges. Put a thin coat of grease on the seat post and a drop on the hinge pivots now, and they'll still move freely in March. Wipe off the excess so it doesn't grab road grit — a little goes a long way.
